Two dead in road cave-in

BEIJING, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- At least two people died in a northeast Chinese city after falling into a 32-foot wide, 32-foot deep hole, created following a road cave in, officials said.

Two others, suffering similar a fate in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province, were hospitalized with injuries, China's official Xinhua news agency reported, quoting city officials. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, the officials said.

The incident, whose cause was being investigated, occurred Tuesday afternoon on the city's Liaoyang Street, the report said.
