PORONAYSK, Russia, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- A 7.3-magnitude earthquake was recorded Tuesday about 98 miles east-northeast out to sea from Poronaysk, Russia, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The 1 p.m. quake was at a depth of 388.8 miles, the U.S. agency said.

The temblor was centered about 140 miles east-northeast of Shakhtersk, 147 miles east-northeast of Uglegorsk and 151 miles east-southeast of Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy, all in Russia, and 1,011 miles north-northeast of Tokyo.
