KIEV, Ukraine, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's office said it plans to charge former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in the murder of politician Yevgeny Shcherban.
The imprisoned Tymoshenko is currently undergoing medical treatment and doctors have asked that she not be disturbed until late September.
"We're waiting for this period to end," said First Deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin. "Once the doctors say she can be troubled, we'll come to her with accusations. We have everything ready for it."
ITAR-Tass reported the prosecutor general believes Tymoshenko and former Prime Minister Pavel Lazarenko paid a hit man to shoot and kill Shcherban at the Donetsk airport on Nov. 3, 1996.
Eight men were tried and found guilty for the murder in 2002, however Kuzmin said those were the perpetrators, not the masterminds.
"We have enough grounds to bring charges against her," Kuzmin said. "We intend to charge Yulia Tymoshenko with complicity."
Tymoshenko was transferred from prison to a hospital in Kharkiv May 9 following her nearly monthlong hunger strike. She has since been undergoing treatment with German neurologist Lutz Harms
