KABUL, Afghanistan, July 23 (UPI) -- Three coalition contract employees were killed when a person wearing an Afghan National Security Force uniform opened fire on them, the coalition said.
The person who fired on the International Security Assistance Force employees was killed during the incident Sunday in western Afghanistan, ISAF officials said in a release.
The shooting was under investigation.
ISAF did not identify the casualties or their nationalities in accordance with its policy of deferring casualty identification procedures to appropriate national officials.
An Afghan official told CNN the three victims likely were trainers at the West Zone Police Training Center in Herat province.
Whether the gunman had ties with any insurgent group wasn't immediately known, police said. The motive was also unknown.
