CAIRO, July 9 (UPI) -- Alaa and Gamal Mubarak, sons of ex-Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, were in court Monday for a new corruption trial after they were acquitted in another case.

The two Mubaraks and seven other defendants were accused of insider trading, Middle East Online reported.

They faced different corruption charges along with their father in a separate trial but a court dropped the charges because the statute of limitations expired.

In the new trial, Alaa and Gamal Mubarak are charged with illegally obtaining about $412,000 million from al-Watany Bank of Egypt by manipulating the stock exchange, al-Masry al-Youm reported.

The younger Mubaraks have been in prison pending investigation in the new case.

On June 2, a court sentenced Hosni Mubarak and his interior minister to life in prison for their roles in the killing of protesters during the Arab Spring uprising that led to Mubarak's ouster in February 2011.
