The two were discussing the situation in Syria when Shawabkeh accused Murad of working as a spy for the Syrian regime. Murad retorted and accused Shawabkeh of being a "spy for the Israeli Mossad," and accused him of buying votes and cursed his father, The Jordan Times said.

Shawabkeh threw a shoe at Murad and then pulled out a small revolver and threatened him, the newspaper said.

Murad said he had filed a complaint against Shawabkeh and accused him of attempted murder, libel and slander, al-Arabiya said.

The incident was posted on YouTube and showed the two struggling as the program ended and the credits ran, The (Beirut) Daily Star said.
