Palestinians block Lebanon road with tires

TYRE, Lebanon, June 30 (UPI) -- A number of Palestinians briefly blocked a road in Tyre, Lebanon, with burning tires Saturday over the arrest of a Palestinian, officials said.

Earlier Saturday, Internal Security Forces demolished an illegal structure in Tyre owned by Bassam Hamas Meree, The (Beirut, Lebanon) Daily Star reported.

Meree's brother, Kamel, threw rocks at ISF members and cursed at them, prompting his arrest, the newspaper said.

ISF then put out the burning tires and reopened the road.

It was not reported how many people were involved in the tire-burning incident.
