5.3 earthquake hits southwest Turkey

FETHIYE, Turkey, June 25 (UPI) -- A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Turkey Monday, the Hurriyet Daily News, of Istanbul, reported.

The earthquake hit the holiday resorts of Fethiye and Marmaris near Mugla province about 4 p.m. local time, the newspaper reported.

Two aftershocks followed, recording 3.3 and 3.0 on the Richter scale.

One person was injured when he panicked and jumped from the window of a shaking building, the Hurriyet Daily News reported. No other injuries or deaths were reported.
