MEXICO CITY, June 25 (UPI) -- A bus loaded with people on their way to a political rally crashed in Mexico Sunday, killing 25 of them and injuring more than 20 others, authorities said.
Notimex reported the bus plunged nearly a thousand feet down a ravine in Guerrero state early Sunday afternoon. The bus was headed to a rally in Buena Vista de Cuellar, the news agency said.

CNN reported the bus' brakes apparently failed while traversing a steep incline.
