Yishai focuses on illegal migration

JERUSALEM, June 5 (UPI) -- Israeli Interior Minister Eli Yishai said a task force would focus on illegal migrants and present recommendations to the Knesset within two months.

Yishai said in a statement the task force's mission was to "rid Israel of illegal migrants by 2015," Ynetnews.com reported.

"We hope that there won't be any more illegal migrants in Israel in the span of the next three years," Yishai said.

"I have made this my top priority for the coming year and I intend to do everything within my power to solve this problem once and for all."

Yishai has been consulting with government, police and military officials as well as legal experts.

The task force is to be headed by Professor Arnon Sofer, a demographics expert from the Haifa University.

Haaretz said Israel has tried different strategies to reduce illegal migration by African migrants.
