Police: 13 terrorists arrested in Iraq

BAGHDAD, June 4 (UPI) -- Police in the Iraqi province of Babil arrested 13 wanted terrorists with alleged ties to al-Qaida, an official said Monday.

Babil police spokesman Col. Ahmed Derham said police launched a morning search in Iskandariya and Mahawil in northern Babil and in Shumali, south of Hilla, the regional capital, after they had been tipped the militants were hiding in the region, al-Shorfa newspaper said

Derham said the 13 prisoners were immediately taken to a security detention facility for interrogation.
