Plane hits minivan in Ghana, 10 dead

ACCRA, Ghana, June 2 (UPI) -- A cargo plane overshot the runway while landing at the airport in Accra, Ghana, Saturday night, hitting a minivan. Ten people were killed, authorities said.

GhanaWeb.com reported the four crew members aboard the Allied Air cargo plane were injured.

The Nigerian Tribune reported airport officials said in a statement the Boeing 727, Flight DHV 111, was on a flight from Lagos, Nigeria, when it crashed at 7:10 p.m..

"The crew of four people on board all survived the accident and are currently receiving treatment at the airport clinic," the airport officials said in a statement. "The aircraft collided with a minivan, resulting in 10 confirmed fatalities ... ."

A witness said it was raining at the time of the crash.

SpyGhana.com reported the plane struck the minivan in Hajj Village near the El-Wak Sports Stadium near the airport.
