8 militants reported killed in Pakistan

MELA, Pakistan, June 1 (UPI) -- Helicopter shelling by security forces in northwestern Pakistan's Orakzai Agency Friday killed at least eight militants and injured three, an official said.

The official of the Frontier Corps, the federally controlled paramilitary force of Pakistan, said gunship helicopters shelled the area of Mela, Dawn News reported.

Sources three militant hideouts were destroyed.

Authorities say 95 percent of Orakzai Agency has been cleared of militants, Dawn News reported.
