IAEA chief holds nuclear talks in Tehran

TEHRAN, May 21 (UPI) -- International Atomic Energy Agency chief Yukiya Amano arrived in Tehran Monday for nuclear talks, Iranian officials said.

Amano was accompanied by his chief inspector, Herman Nackaerts, and colleague Rafael Mariano Grossi.

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said the talks will focus on developing a new framework for cooperation to answer any IAEA questions about the country's nuclear program, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

Before leaving for Tehran, Amano told reporters he was hopeful that a deal could be reached with Iran, the Iran Independent News Service reported.
