8 militants killed in Afghanistan

KAJ KALA, Afghanistan, May 18 (UPI) -- At least eight militants and a militant commander were killed in two NATO airstrikes in the Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan, an official said.

Fazal Karim Muslim, chief of the province's Syedabad district, said at least five militants and their commander had been planting roadside bombs in the Kaj Kala area and were killed in a NATO air raid, Khaama Press reported Friday.

Muslim said at least three militants were also killed along Kabul-Kandahar highway in the Aftab Sia area.
