TORONTO, May 15 (UPI) -- Road rage was a factor in the Toronto police decision Tuesday to charge a cab driver with second degree murder after a skateboarder was run down and killed.

Sgt. Mario Teixeira told the QMI Agency road rage was "definitely an angle we're considering" in the death of 28-year-old Ralph Bissonette, who was struck and killed downtown Monday evening.

Witness Gary Moore told police the driver of a gray taxicab was visibly and audibly angry at Bissonette.

"He was enraged and was screaming at the guy" before Bissonette was run down, Moore said.

The skateboarder suffered serious head injuries and died in a hospital trauma unit not long after the incident, the National Post newspaper said.

Adib Ibrahim, 43, was charged with second degree murder, police said.
