Nepal flood toll rises to 13

POKHARA, Nepal, May 5 (UPI) -- Nepal's military said it sent two helicopters to the city of Pokhara to help rescue people from a flood that has killed at least 13 people.

The bodies of the 13 victims included three unidentified foreigners recovered from the scene, and the helicopters were checking other sites along the Seti Gandaki River.

Police told the Himalayan Times Saturday it was unclear how many people might still be missing; however, all but two members of a group of 14 students feared lost had turned up safe.

The flooding around Nepal's second-largest city was caused by an avalanche or landslide that blocked the river, army engineers told reporters.
