40,000 sing in protest against Breivik

OSLO, Norway, April 26 (UPI) -- About 40,000 people turned out in the rain in Oslo Thursday to sing a song to protest Behring Breivik, who has admitted killing 77 people in Norway.

Norwegian singer Lillebjorn Nilsen led the crowd in singing "Children of the Rainbow," which Breivik had said in court is an example of the Marxist influence on Norwegian children, NRK reported.

The protest took root on Facebook after Breivik's comment in court about the song, which describes a world "where every sister and every brother" shall live together "like small children of the rainbow."

NRK said there were reports of similar spontaneous gatherings throughout Norway.

In the July 22 rampage, authorities said, Breivik set off a car bomb outside the government's headquarters in Oslo, killing eight people, then, dressed as a police officer, went to Utoya Island, outside the capital, where he opened fire on a Labor Party youth camp, killing 69 others.
