AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, April 22 (UPI) -- Dutch officials said Sunday it was still too early to determine why two trains that collided head-on were on the same track.

One woman died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, which left 117 people hurt, including 16 who remained hospitalized Sunday.

Radio Netherlands Worldwide said the investigation into the crash continued Sunday. The two trains were traveling in opposite directions when they crashed near the Sloterijk district west of Amsterdam.

The Saturday night crash disrupted rail service between Amsterdam and The Hague. The Dutch public broadcaster NOS said limited service had resumed on the line, but not on the track where the collision occurred.
