Widow Heywood may be unable to leave China

BEIJING, April 13 (UPI) -- Friends said they're worried that the wife of a British businessman killed in China may be unable to leave China while his death is investigated.

One family friend said he didn't know if Lulu Heywood, whose husband died in Novemer, would be allowed to return to Britain. The friend said, "I am, of course, very worried about her," The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

Lulu Heywood, who is Chinese, had visited Britain before and attended a memorial service for her husband, Neil Heywood, just before Christmas, a friend said.

The Foreign Office wasn't believed to be assisting Lulu Heywood and she may not qualify for permanent British residency, the Telegraph report said.

Neil Heywood's death was first reported as possibly resulting from too much drinking or a heart attack until China's state-run media announced that Gu Kailai, wife of Communist Party leader Bo Xilai, was "highly suspected" of involvement in his death. His body was found in a hotel room in Chongqing.

Bo was suspended from the 25-member Politburo because of the scandal.
