6.5 quake recorded in Mexico

LAZARO CARDENAS, Mexico, April 11 (UPI) -- A 6.5-magnitude earthquake shook west-central Mexico's Michoacan state Wednesday, U.S. seismologists said.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 5:55 p.m. quake occurred at a depth of 12.4 miles and was centered 42 miles northwest of Lazaro Cardenas, 80 miles south-southwest of Uruapan, 88 miles northwest of Zihuatanejo and 238 miles west-southwest of Mexico City.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
