Chavez back in Cuba for cancer treatment

HAVANA, April 8 (UPI) -- Cuban leader Raul Castro greeted Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in Havana Sunday as Chavez returned for more cancer radiation treatment.

Of this year's 99 days, Chavez has spent 34 of them in Havana undergoing radiation therapy for an undisclosed cancer, CNN said. He flew home Thursday after one treatment and spoke emotionally that night at a Catholic Mass about his condition.

"Christ ... give me life because I still have things to do for the people and this country. Do not take me yet," Chavez said from the pulpit.

Venezuelan state television reported the 57-year-old socialist president is planning to return to Caracas Wednesday or Thursday to mark the anniversary of the failed coup against him in 2002, three years into his presidency.

Chavez has vowed to run for re-election in October.
