BOAO, China, April 2 (UPI) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani is urging greater cooperation between Asian countries in boosting economic development and promoting peace.

Gilani, addressing the Boao Forum Sunday in China, said cooperation in the fields of energy‚ culture‚ education and science and technology can pave the way for sustainable development, Pakistan's News Network International reported.

The prime minister said Pakistan has suffered financially from its efforts to support the international war against terrorism, particularly in Afghanistan. The financial strain dates back to the Afghan Soviet War, NNI reported.

Gilani said Pakistan's relationship with China is growing stronger by the day.
