DAZHOU, China, April 1 (UPI) -- A woman in China poisoned herself and her three children with pesticide, landing them all in the hospital with her two daughters suffering from kidney failure.
Tang Chengfang, 27, of Dazhou, was in critical condition and her 5- and 7-year-old daughters and an 8-month-old son were unable to speak after the poisonous concoction damaged their throats, China Daily reported Sunday.
Tang added the pesticide to some sugar and fed it to her three children before consuming it herself, China Daily said.
Tang's husband, Li Heyuan, was away working in Fuzhou at the time of the incident, but said he doesn't blame his wife because "she may have depression."
Li said Tang had shown a desire to commit suicide in 2004 because she had a headache.
"I only want my family to be happy ... I hope my children can make it. I don't know what to do without them," Li said.
