Grenades, ammo found at Lebanon camp

SIDON, Lebanon, March 31 (UPI) -- A suspected arms dealer was arrested attempting to leave a Lebanese refugee camp with hand grenades and ammunition in his car, officials said.

Mahmoud Terro was arrested, The Daily Star newspaper in Beirut reported. Army troops also increased security at the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian camp, which had been relaxed following protests by the residents.

The grenades and ammunition were hidden near the car's engine, military officials said.

Terro had been under surveillance.

Tawiq Tafa, suspected of leading a terrorist group that has been able to penetrate the Lebanese army, was believed to be hiding in Ain al-Hilweh. Earlier this month, a heavy machine gun was discovered in a taxi leaving the camp, hidden inside a water heater.
