Man killed in freak riding mower crash

OCEAN SHORES, Australia, March 28 (UPI) -- Searchers Wednesday found the body of a 67-year-old Australian man who was killed when a riding mower he was operating slipped off a dam, police said.

The hunt for the man began Tuesday afternoon in northern New South Wales when he did not appear at the Mullumbimby Pub, where he was employed as a handyman, The Gold Coast Bulletin reported. His body was discovered at about 10 a.m. Wednesday under the riding lawnmower at the dam on the edge of the Ocean Shores Golf Course.

Emergency workers were trying to get the body out.

Investigators said the man had been mowing the lawn of a house next to the golf course. He is believed to have been killed early Tuesday afternoon, the report said.
