KHARKOV, Ukraine, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Doctors said Thursday jailed former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko does not need an operation.

On Tuesday, a medical commission examined Tymoshenko, who will not allow details of her condition to be publicized. The commission concluded her current regimen of treatment is working and she does not need an operation.

"The practice which we used was confirmed, we are not talking about a medical operation so far," said one doctor from the Romodanov Institute of Neurosurgery.

Tymoshenko's lawyers say she was not receiving adequate care, and as a result, her health was deteriorating, RIA Novosti reported.

Tymoshenko was sentenced to seven years in prison in October 2011 on charges of exceeding her authority to sign a gas deal with Russia in 2009.
