IDF: 200,000 rockets aimed at Israel

HERZLIYA, Israel, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Israel's military intelligence chief says 200,000 rockets are pointed at the country, making every part of the country vulnerable to attack.

Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi said most of the missiles have a range of about 25 miles but thousands have much longer range and are much more lethal than in the past, Arutz Sheva reported Thursday.

"The warheads on these missiles contain hundreds of kilograms of explosives, not dozens, as in the past. And their firing precision and ability to hit specific targets is also greater," Kochavi said Thursday at the Herzliya Conference on Israeli policy.

The rockets are mostly in Lebanon and Syria.

"Every 10th house in Lebanon is now a weapons depot," Kochavi said.

Kocahvi said Iran already has enough uranium for four atomic bombs, with more than 220 pounds enriched to a level of 20 percent. He urged sanctions against Iran to prevent Iranian leaders for putting in an order for the bombs to be made.

"Only concerted international effort can persuade Tehran to halt their pursuit of the project," he said.
