VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- The number of people charged in connection with last June's hockey riot in Vancouver has surpassed 100 and new suspects are being sought, police said.

At a news conference Tuesday, Vancouver police said its Web site of images and videos of the downtown mayhem had been updated with some 350 new items and appealed to the public to help identify people seen assaulting people or vandalizing stores and vehicles.

Integrated Riot Investigation Team Inspector Les Yeo told reporters charges had been recommended against 20 more people identified from the site, bringing the total of suspects to 100.

Among them are six of 12 people seen beating Good Samaritan Robert Mackay, who was trying to prevent a mob from smashing department store windows, The (Vancouver) Province reported.

So far, prosecutors have accepted 116 police charges against 43 suspects, 20 of whom are too young to be identified, the newspaper said.

The police Web site showing suspects is at https://vancouver.ca/police/riot2011/index.html.

The city's core erupted into violence in the final minutes of the Stanley Cup final game in which the Boston Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks.

Scores of people and police were injured and conservative estimates said damages exceeded $4 million.
