BAGHDAD, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Iraq's Foreign Ministry denied news reports Wednesday execution orders have been issued for three Saudis close to the kingdom's royal family.
The ministry issued a statement on its Web site saying that Saudi officials have been informed there is no truth to the report and it was "completely incorrect," Aswat al-Iraq reported.
The statement comes one day after a top official of Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry said Iraq was not holding any prisoners from the Saudi royal family.
Iraq said reports issued by unofficial media sources should be discounted unless they come from official government sources.
Last month a Saudi human rights group met with a delegation from Iraq to discuss exchanging prisoners, including those sentenced to death.
