LONDON, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- A 64-year-old man died of a heart attack after being tied up by burglars who invaded his home in a London suburb, police said.
Investigators said the death of Edward Syrad of Barnehurst, Kent, is being treated as a murder, the Daily Mirror reported. Syrad's wife, Anne, 60, was also bound and gagged Wednesday night.
Paul Syrad said his father died trying to help his wife.
"We know two raiders came through the back door," he told the Mirror. "They tied up my stepmum and my dad died of a heart attack as he tried to fight them off. It was over money."
Another relative said the men had a gun and threatened Syrad with it. The relative, whose name was not reported, said Anne Syrad "managed to hop" to another room after the men left, found her husband dead and called police.
