FRANKFURT, Germany, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A German couple that survived the cruise ship sinking in Italy said they couldn't board a train for home because their tickets and money were gone.
Marianne and Erwin Bleser caught a bus to the train station at Frankfort Airport hoping railway operator Deutsche Bahn would allow them to take their pre-reserved train to Langenhahn, Sweden's The Local reported Tuesday.
Instead, the elderly couple was told by the conductor that they would have to buy new tickets for $90 or get off the train.
"I've never seen such arrogance," said Marianne Bleser, adding that they had very little money, only enough for food and drink.
The couple was forced to get off the train and call their son to pick them up.
Deutsche Bahn said it has apologized for the incident.
