Radaa is in al-Baydah province, which borders the AQAP-controlled Abyan province. Local officials said the militants began their takeover of Radaa Saturday night, seizing a citadel and mosque.

A Yemeni military official said Sunday AQAP militants executed two Yemeni soldiers in Abyan province, the Observer said. The official said the soldiers were kidnapped two months ago while fighting al-Qaida militants west of Zinjubar, the Abyan provincial capital.
