WEST BANK, Israel, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Israeli troops evicted residents and destroyed a West Bank outpost they said was illegal near Kiryat Arba Thursday morning.
Outpost Mitzpe Avichai was established in 2007 in honor of Avichai Levy, who authorities said was shot by a terrorist. The settlement, which had been evicted twice before, consisted of 10 structures housing nine families, Haaretz reported.
The Israeli army issued a restraining order this week against Yaron Kaleb, the settlement's leader, preventing his entrance to the West Bank.
Troops had already demolished two other outposts -- Givat Arye and Gal Yossef, near Shilo -- this week.
"The destruction was an indication of the continued deterioration (of) the Netanyahu government, which is spreading frustration and despair," said Michael Ben Art, National Union party politician.
