Slain couple found in England home

BIRMINGHAM, England, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- The bodies of a married British couple were discovered Wednesday at a house in Birmingham, police said.

West Midlands police said Avtar Kolar, 62, and Carole Kolar, 58, were subjected to assault, though post-mortem results have yet to be released, Sky News reported.

Sixty officers have gone door-to-door at neighboring houses asking for information about the couple, who had last been spoken to about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

"We are going to do everything that we can to find those responsible as quickly as possible," said Detective Superintendent Richard Baker.

"This is a major investigation with a number of extremely fast inquiries currently being undertaken," he said.
