Canadian mountie allegedly stole cocaine

CHILLIWACK, British Columbia, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- A Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer is under suspension, charged with stealing cocaine from a drug exhibit, a senior officer said.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported RCMP Staff Sgt. Stuart Seib may have taken drugs from the same exhibit more than once. Seib has been a mountie for more than 18 years and was transferred to the Merritt detachment in British Columbia in November.

"While the alleged actions of this member are extremely troubling, they are clearly not representative of the high moral and ethical standards of the vast majority of the members of the RCMP," Chief Supt. Mike Sekela said at a news conference in Chilliwack, British Columbia.
