NAPLES, Italy, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- A senior police officer in Naples, Italy, is facing trial on charges of helping a restaurant owner with alleged ties to the mob.
A judge ruled Friday there is enough evidence to hold Vittorio Pisani, the former head of the flying squad, for trial, the Italian news agency ANSA reported. The trial is scheduled for late January.

Prosecutors say Pisani warned restaurant owner Marco Iorio of a money-laundering investigation and helped him transfer funds to Switzerland. Iorio is an alleged member of the Camorra, the powerful Neapolitan criminal organization.
Pisani used to be sought out for commentary on the mob.
