GAZA, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Tens of thousands of supporters flooded into the streets of Gaza City Wednesday to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the founding of Hamas, observers said.

They honked vehicle horns and waved the signature green flags of Hamas in a rally organized by Gaza's rulers, the Israeli network Arutz Sheva reported.

A huge stage in the shape of a ship was set up to symbolize the group's dream of conquering Israel from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.

Hamas has ruled Gaza since June 2007 when the terrorist organization defeated its Palestinian Authority rival, Fatah.

Fatah currently rules the West Bank from Ramallah.
