"The SAF seized the command of the 9th division [the stronghold of the SPLA rebels at the area] with its three camps."

The Chinese news agency Xinhua reported Sunday South Kordofan state has been the site of armed clashes between the Sudanese military and SPLA fighters since June 5. The militants cite disputes over security arrangements in the region as the reason for the escalation in fighting in the South Kordofan and Blue Nile areas. Xinhua said Khartoum accuses the newly formed nation of South Sudan of supporting the rebels.
