The CBC said one of the injured mounties has 10 years' experience and the other 30 years, and both worked out of the Red Deer detachment.

The incident started about 5:20 p.m. Saturday when the officers responded to a call from a 35-year-old man who had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Neighbors were evacuated from the area and mounties secured the area around the home. About 3:30 a.m. Sunday, individuals inside the home and mounties exchanged shots.

Two emergency response team members were wounded and were transported to an Edmonton-area hospital.

Negotiations with the people inside the residence continued until about 10:45 a.m. when a man and a woman were taken into custody. Both of them also were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the CBC said.

The names of the mounties and others involved were not released.
