INNISFAIL, Alberta, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Police are investigating an explosion that killed a 23-year-old mother at her Alberta home.
Police said a package was delivered to the woman's Innisfail townhouse Friday morning, shortly before the explosion, CBC News reported.
The package was left at the door rather than being delivered by a courier or postal worker, police said.
Three other units were evacuated after the explosion, but the damage was confined to the one unit, police said.
A major crimes unit and explosive experts were called to the scene of the explosion, said Sgt. Patrick Webb.
The woman killed in the blast had a young child and was confined to a wheelchair. Police are investigating her death as a homicide.
Her caregiver, a woman in her 30s, suffered minor injuries.
Police have not released the names of the victims.
