BELGRADE, Serbia, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Serbia's interior minister said Wednesday his country must not rule out going to war over Kosovo.

Ivica Dacic told Serbia's B92 that a "balance of fear" is necessary for the sake of security in the region.

He added it should never be said that "Kosovo is lost" forever because it was an important part of Serbia.

"We lost Kosovo and got it back several times in history," he said.

Dacic also said that Kosovo independence was never one of the conditions for EU integration as it is currently claimed.

"Kosovo was not mentioned in any of the European documents I saw," Dacic said. "We have fulfilled all the conditions from the documents."

He added that Serbia can survive without joining the European Union
