Four of the injured remained hospitalized, said Alejandro Laroza, executive director of Valencia City's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The epicenter of the quake, which struck at 5:43 p.m., was about 20 miles southwest of Malaybalay town in the southern Philippines.

The quake was felt most strongly in Valencia City, where it knocked out power, leaving much of the city without power Monday night.

The Star said at least 13 buildings had sustained cracks.

Forty patients from the Sanitarium Hospital in Valencia City were evacuated during the quake but the hospital, which showed cracks, was not in danger of collapsing, officials said.

City disaster officials said they had not finished assessing damage.
