Eight bodies found in Mexican tourist spot

BOCA DEL RIO, Mexico, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Mexican authorities found eight bodies in a remote area in Veracruz state near a popular tourist attraction, a state government official said.

Officials said an anonymous tip led investigators to the site near a river that is a popular tourist destination in the city of Boca del Rio, CNN reported Wednesday.

The government statement said security forces were searching for suspects.

Violence has surged in the coastal state of Veracruz, CNN reported. In September, 35 bodies were found alongside a roadway during rush-hour traffic in another tourist area of Boca del Rio just two days before state prosecutors and judges met in the city.
