JERUSALEM, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Israel's transportation minister is calling for the death penalty for two Palestinians who killed five members of an Israeli family.
Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz said he was told the matter was under legal review, The Jerusalem Post reported.
Ajmad Awad pleaded guilty to killing Ehud and Ruth Fogel and three of their young children earlier this year in their home in the West Bank settlement of Itamar. Hakim Awad was convicted in Samaria Military Court of the killings.
Katz said handing down a death penalty sentence would send a message to the Palestinians in the wake of the release of Palestinian prisoners in the Shalit deal, Ynetnews.com reported.
