Six killed in Honduran airport shootings

SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Six people were killed and four others were injured in a shooting spree at an airport in northwestern Honduras, security officials said.

Airport security chief Darwin Ismael Garcia Nunez told CNN eight gunmen dressed in black staged two swift attacks on vehicles in the parking lot of the Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula Friday night.

In the first attack, two men were killed and a woman was injured, he said.

The gunmen then attacked a second vehicle and pulled passengers out of a limousine. Four men were shot dead and three others were injured, the report said.

Garcia said armed airport security officials arrived and exchanged gunfire with the gunmen, who fled.

There was no immediate indication of motive for the apparently targeted attacks. Garcia said video surveillance footage from the parking lot's cameras was being scrutinized.
