SICAMOUS, British Columbia, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- A 64-year-old Canadian man has been found guilty of drunken driving for the 20th time, a court official says.
Moris Dizenbach of Sicamous, British Columbia, was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison last week and banned from driving for the rest of his life, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Sunday. His string of drunken driving convictions dates to 1976.
Prosecutor Greg Koturbash said Dizenbach is "clearly a menace."
"It's just fortunate that no one's died," he said. "It's exceptional. I've never seen a case with a person have that many prior drunk driving convictions. We had a lot of trouble finding similar cases in Canada where a person has had that many convictions."
Manon Groulx of the provincial chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving said putting Dizenbach behind bars will make the streets of Sicamous less dangerous.
"That's 4 1/2 years of his not driving and potentially hitting and killing people," Groulx said.
