Ukraine voices interest in missile shield

BRUSSELS, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Ukraine says it wants to be involved in the creation of a European missile shield if Russia is included in the project,

RIA Novosti said Igor Dolgov, Ukrainian envoy to NATO, was quoted by the Unian news agency, as saying a system that would cover parts of Europe on either side of Ukraine would be in the country's "natural interest."

Dolgov, who was in Brussels, said there have been no full-fledged talks with NATO on the subject because the final configuration of the European missile shield is still being defined.
