Prayuth visited flood-hit areas upriver from Bangkok Friday, Thai News Agency reported.

Many communities along the Ping River have been inundated with more than 3 feet of water. The river is receding by 1.5 to 2 inches per hour.

The Irrigation Department is warning low-lying areas such as Lop Buri, Saraburi and Ayutthaya provinces that more flooding it still to come, with water levels not peaking until Monday or Tuesday, the Bangkok Post reported.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration implemented a course of action flood prevention for any flooding situation and doesn't expect the capital city to be inundated with water.

"All 50 district chiefs had been instructed to oversee their areas and prepare to provide assistance for people living outside the flood prevention walls in the event that they are affected by the run-off," said the BMA spokesman Wasan Meewong.
