Israeli PM seeks 'common sense' for Turkey

TEL AVIV, Israel, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu says he is hoping to see common sense prevail in Israel's diplomatic crisis with Turkey.

Netanyahu told reporters Tuesday that "common sense and cold calculation are working overtime on our side, and from my understanding, not only on our side," Ynetnews reported.

Turkish Prime Minister Recip Tayyip Erdogan, on a diplomatic visit to Egypt, told the Egyptian newspaper al-Shorouk that Navy warships are prepared to defend Turkish boats from an attack in international waters.

Diplomatic relations between Israel and Turkey have been severely strained over Israel's refusal to issue an official apology for killing nine Turks when its navy intercepted a flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.
